Catchy-blog-posts

I don’t like to write a blog that only 8 people read. I guess no one really does.

But lets face the truth gone are the days when people simply write a blog post, publish it on social media and expect thousands of comments flowing in. Blogging has become more and more common nowadays. Everyone is already doing it, you’re probably already doing it. But unlike few years back people don’t click on most blogs.

7 out of 10 will only read your headline. 2 will eventually click over it and read your article. It shows how much people have become desensitized to blog posts and are not really reading them.

So, how to write a Blog Post that people actually read?

Saying so you must have tried few things out to make it compelling and click worthy. But there is always scope of improvement. So checkout few things which you can do to ensure more people reading your blog.

Step 1 – Catchy Title

Headings like “Top tips for Blogging” or “How to write Blog Entries” might not attract many users. You need to create a fear of losing out. How about using “How Blogging can make you rich?” or “7 Problems with Blogging”, they will surely get more clicks than the generic ones. You can also go for “A complete Beginner’s Guide to Blogging” if it is covering all the points, basic and advanced. If you still need help try out this tool to come up catchy titles.

Step 2 – Include the words You & I

Your blog post must feel like a conversation. Because, if they don’t feel like it as a conversation they’ll probably going to think of it as a boring lecture and will leave.
When you become more conversational with people then they’ll be more likely to engage, read and respond.

Step 3 – Paragraphs

Your paragraphs must be of max 4-5 lines. The moment it crosses this limit it becomes overwhelming to the reader. And people don’t like to be overwhelmed. Try to keep your paragraphs short just like what you’re seeing in this article.

Step 4 – Subheadings

Subheadings break down section within your blog post and makes it easier to skim. Without subheading people won’t be able to gaze the content of your post without reading the whole thing. This means you’re going to get less visitors. Through subheadings people can actually go down to the section of the blog post that they want to read and if then they will keep scrolling through for more.

Step 5 – Write a Conclusion

Try to write down a conclusion every time you’re doing a blog post. And you can also label that Conclusion as “Conclusion”. It just keep things really simple. People can scroll down and read your conclusion. They know what your blog post is about and decide if they want to back up and read the rest. I know this sounds wierd but it actually works. Most of the people go straight down to read conclusion to see if it they want to reach there and if the answer is yes. Then they read it full-length.

Step 5 – Cite your information

While writing blog posts don’t just come up with stats and data without really citing it. If you do that quite often people can have trust issues and they will never come back.

Step 6 – Use Photos

Picture says a thousand words. If you’ll use enough graphics and images to explain the message that you want to convey. People will be much more likely to read and stick around.

Step 7 – CTA

Make sure your article is really thorough and actionable. If one feels like oh cool I can do something or try some of this after reading your article they will read rest of your content and future blog posts too.

I Googled once “How to repair my bathroom and I came up with an article that was little informative and but not actionable. It didn’t teach me what I was looking for. Never went to that site again.

If you follow these tips you’re gonna create blog posts that people actually want to read.
